Danny Porath is the Etta and Paul Schankerman Professor in molecular biomedicine at the Hebrew University. He got his B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics and Electronics, M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics at Hebrew University. He did his Postdoctoral work with Quantum Transport group at Delft University of Technology.
After that, at HUJI, he was a Lecturer at the Department of Physical Chemistry from 2001 to 2007, Senior Lecturer until 2009 and Associate Professor in the Institute of Chemistry in 2009. Fields of specialization mainly are: scanning probe microscopy and spectroscopy, electrical transport measurements in single molecules, nanoelectronics, DNA sequencing, biomarker detection and HIV-IN characterization.
Danny Porath is also a founder and coordinator of the Nanoseminar – seminar of the HUJI Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and was a member of the Editorial Board of “Self Assembly and Molecular Electronics and of “Scientific Report” from Nature Publishing Group in 2011.
Other achievements include the excellent postdoctoral award of the American Vacuum Society Meeting, Boston 2000, and The Israel Chemical Society Prize for the Outstanding Young Scientist in 2007.
